Welcome back Jack!

Welcoming myself back since its been donkey years since i last blogged. Nothing much to blog about actually since everyday is work and rest, work and rest. The only highlights are my off days when i get to meet aileen and play soccer with my secondary school buddies on Sundays.

Sometimes i wonder if this is what i want to do in life. I know myself and my talents. The first step is always the most difficult step. Maybe i'm afraid to fail. I don't know. I envy those that already know what they want in life. The road becomes so clear ahead of them. I'm sure there are people like me around. But, you'll never know what life brings you. Maybe i'll have a big surprise? Haha...

Just have to take a step at a time and evaluate myself in the future... I'm considered lucky though. Time is on my side.

Happy Birthday to Sisisgreat!

Went to Marriot to celebrate Eileen's birthday yesterday. We had dinner at the chinese restaurant. Not quite a celebration actually as we did not have the cakes, candles and singing, but i'm sure the birthday girl still enjoyed herself because of the nice food and company! (Aileen had 50% off as she is working at Marriot...a bonus!)

No photos to show as we did not take any yesterday. Aileen bought her camera but never took any....blame Aileen!!! Haha...just kidding!

Finally fixed my internet connection....i felt real stupid when i found out whats the cause of it. The internet cable is not connected properly! Haha...Craps!

Haven't been blogging lately as my computer internet connection is abit crazy after my trial for the antivirus is expired.... Coincidence? Some of my friends have this conspiracy thory about antivirus companies creating viruses...If not, they'll go bust without any more viruses!!! Haha...

Gonna sign my employment letter tomorrow! Four Seasons has offered me full-time after my part-time probation for 4 weeks, which ends 30th September. They gonna explain to me the terms of their contract etc....

I love it there presently and time pasts soooooo fast when i'm working. Food's good there, all the people i've met so far are nice.... and most of all...its a BUSY PLACE!!!

First Day Working!

First day working at Four Seasons... Did not do much except observing what the room attendents do.
Funny thing happened to me though. I thought they were only calling me there to do some administrative stuff the first day as i had not taken any measurements for my uniform yet plus all the forms that they need me to fill in. So, i did not bring or wear my black shoes there.
Guess what! They told me to change into their uniform right away (i reached there early so they took my measurements and choose a pair of uniform that fits me best) and told me to follow a room attendent called Jason to familiarise what the room attendents do and the standards Four Season set for them.

Back to the main point...NO BLACK SHOES! What would anyone have done? (normal people)
a) Ask them if they had any spare black shoes.
b) Tell them that you did not have any black shoes and bla...bla..bla..you did not know...bla..bla..bla..

You guessted it! i did option C! With a few seconds in the fitting room to think of an idea before they question me what i'm doing inside, i took out my black socks, and YES, wore it over my shoe and ankles! Hahaha!!! To me it looks very obvious but nobody noticed it the whole day though...Yeah! (still feeling guilty doing it...)

I remembered once i had a similar situation at Swissotel the Stamford during my internship there. There was a VIP, which i had to escort up to his room (i was already in front office dept) One of the staff swiped his keycard in the lift, pressed the level which the VIP was going to, and left as i stayed in the lift with the VIP. He was staying at the 59 level but the lift stopped one or two levels below it....which up till now i still don't know what happened to the lift on that day.
You guessed right! i chose option C again! Instead of calling down or asking the people from the 59 level to pick him up, i took him to the stairs (the ones you use in case of a fire...dark gloomy ones...) and walked him up! But not without a reason... i explained to him that it was the fire prevention week for the hotel and i had to brief him on the fire escape route of the hotel and the stairs happened to be one of the routes! He nod his head, gave a nice smile and we reached 59 level! Whew... that was very close...( Its true that week was fire prevention week as i remembered it during the briefing before i started work...)

Cool working for a hotel eh! except for the six day week thingy...haha...ciao!

Looks normal?

You're wrong!

Jason, My pal for the day!

Kusu Island and Tapas

Onboard 'Zheng He' when i was still innocent...haha

On Board 'Zheng He'
Well Away from the city! (Noticed the background?)
Kusu Island!
Spanish food for a change

'Ships Ahoy! We'are departing in 5 mins!' shouted Admiral Zheng He....haha...That must have took place way before we were born as Zheng He is a famous naval commander during ancient China. Some say he actually discovered America before Christopher Columbus...

Sisisgreat treated Leen and me to a high tea onboard the ship called 'Zheng He'. named after the famous naval commander. The trip would start at harbourfront, to Kusu island, and then back, which took around 2.5hrs. I went there once when i was a kid with my cousins Da, Er and San Jies. I think it was the high tea also? Not too sure as it was a long long time ago.

The stop at kusu island lasted around 45mins. So we went to the temple with lots of tortoises and went to pray for our general health.

Sisisgreat brought us to 'Tapas' a spanish restaurant at Clarke Quey for dinner after digesting our high tea. This was the first time but not the last time i'm going to eat spanish food as the dishes were fantastic! The spanish ommelette with onions, garlic mushrooms, spanish rice....all SEDAP!!!!(I think its malay for delicious?)

Sisisgreat (My japanese eggplant kaki) has gone back to Malaysia yesterday with Ellenmae after a wonderful summer holiday here. Keep up the good grades Ellenmae! See you'll in December!

881

Went to the movies yesterday to watch Roysten Tan's new movie '881' with Leen, Big Sis and Ellenmae. Its a story about the papaya sisters and their journey admist the vibrant and colourful getai scene during the 7th month ghost festival. There are lots of nice hokkien songs in the movie. I didn't think i would like the movie but after watching it, i can't seem to get the songs out of my head now.
Great songs coupled with elaborated costumes, this local production is a must see for all! The young will be thrown into a cauldron of colours and laughs as they giggle their way through the hokkien jokes (Must know basic hokkien in order to get the jokes.....vvvery basic...some hokkien swear words is a plus point). The more mature audiences will have a chance to revive their memories of the good old days where getais were abundant and crowded. Not to say that we don't have getais now...but you get what i mean....its just............different now.
