Spent a tired but fun day helping out (with salary of course!) as a facilitator for an amazing race organised by Hwa Chong Institution for the 13th Student Leaders Convention. I had students of various nationalities and and races in my group for example, students from India, Hong Kong and Cambodia. I felt that i had an obligation to make their outing a memorable one since i am from the host country (Need to make good impression for Singapore...haha....).
Some background info...I did participate in the Student Leaders Convention during my years in Bowen Secondary and i don't remember having any foreign students with us, making this a new experience for me! (My team: Depp/F, Tracy/F, Marion/F, Jane/F, Pal/F, Santam/F, Varnu/M, Jonathan/M, ???/M, ???/M, ???/M.) Don't ask me why i remember the girls' names better...its just...EASIER to remember girls' names..you know...english names..(hey! what do you think i meant??)
What they had to do was to do the required activities at a given station. After they had completed the activity, they were given clues to the next station. Sounds boring? Imagine running to and fro from SMU (Dhoby Ghaut) to Takashimaya (Orchard)... My team super 'Seow On' (Means enthusiastic without taking their own well-being into consideration)....Run from station to station! Furthermore, the order of the stations are organised in a manner which made the teams run to and fro from Orchard to Dhoby Ghaut... By the way, no transport were allowed.
By and large, this was the most wonderful way of earning money (although $5/hr is not alot) and i thoroughly enjoyed myself today!
Laisser les jeux commencent!
Guessing what's written on their foreheads.
A station master giving the briefing for the game.
Using their butts to write '13th SLC'
Singing 'when you have it and you know it clap your hand *clap* *clap*' and make the passer-bys clap WITHOUT telling them to clap...no mean feat..
Picking up ping pong balls from the grass patch (I assure you there are ping pong balls there although you may not see it in the picture...too small)
Climbing the 'Stairways to Heaven'
Finale. Water Bomb Competition!
