Kusu Island and Tapas

Onboard 'Zheng He' when i was still innocent...haha

On Board 'Zheng He'
Well Away from the city! (Noticed the background?)
Kusu Island!
Spanish food for a change

'Ships Ahoy! We'are departing in 5 mins!' shouted Admiral Zheng He....haha...That must have took place way before we were born as Zheng He is a famous naval commander during ancient China. Some say he actually discovered America before Christopher Columbus...

Sisisgreat treated Leen and me to a high tea onboard the ship called 'Zheng He'. named after the famous naval commander. The trip would start at harbourfront, to Kusu island, and then back, which took around 2.5hrs. I went there once when i was a kid with my cousins Da, Er and San Jies. I think it was the high tea also? Not too sure as it was a long long time ago.

The stop at kusu island lasted around 45mins. So we went to the temple with lots of tortoises and went to pray for our general health.

Sisisgreat brought us to 'Tapas' a spanish restaurant at Clarke Quey for dinner after digesting our high tea. This was the first time but not the last time i'm going to eat spanish food as the dishes were fantastic! The spanish ommelette with onions, garlic mushrooms, spanish rice....all SEDAP!!!!(I think its malay for delicious?)

Sisisgreat (My japanese eggplant kaki) has gone back to Malaysia yesterday with Ellenmae after a wonderful summer holiday here. Keep up the good grades Ellenmae! See you'll in December!

881

Went to the movies yesterday to watch Roysten Tan's new movie '881' with Leen, Big Sis and Ellenmae. Its a story about the papaya sisters and their journey admist the vibrant and colourful getai scene during the 7th month ghost festival. There are lots of nice hokkien songs in the movie. I didn't think i would like the movie but after watching it, i can't seem to get the songs out of my head now.
Great songs coupled with elaborated costumes, this local production is a must see for all! The young will be thrown into a cauldron of colours and laughs as they giggle their way through the hokkien jokes (Must know basic hokkien in order to get the jokes.....vvvery basic...some hokkien swear words is a plus point). The more mature audiences will have a chance to revive their memories of the good old days where getais were abundant and crowded. Not to say that we don't have getais now...but you get what i mean....its just............different now.

Thank you Sweety!

Wanna say a BIG THANK YOU to Leen as she celebrated my birthday for me..and even gave me a BIG suprise!
Just went for my last 2 rounds of interview at Four Seasons Hotel and I passed! Starting work on 3rd September as assistant housekeeper. Will start the first 2 weeks as a part-timer first as they want to access me whether i can meet their high standards or not. If i can't or i feel that its not the right job for me, i can still leave and there will be no records as i'm only still a part-timer. Its a win-win for both as far as i can see.
Its quite intimidating as they make it seem that its very difficult to meet their standards but i've never shun from a challenge and i'm not making this the first. TOUGH TIMES DON'T LAST TOUGH MEN DO!!!

A few events

Smile!

++ Uncle Tay's Birthday! ++
To Uncle Tay: Wishing you a Happy Birthday and many more birthdays to come!

We went to The Pines to celebrate Uncle Tay's birthday on 13th August. Aileen and her sister arranged the dinner with a few of Uncle Tay's closest friends. Aileen and Sis bought Blue Label Whiskey for their dad, (they had his name carved on the bottle with laser...COOL!!!) and bought brandy for Uncle Tay. Uncle Tay's buddies brought MORE brandy and MORE wines! (Main course for the night.........ALCOHOL!!!)

I could see that everyone really enjoyed themselves and I have to say that Leen and Sis both put in alot of effort into this. I guess thats how we should celebrate our birthdays. Nevermind the cake, songs, or food...All the birthday boy wants is a gathering of family, good friends, and ALCOHOL!!! Haha!

Dao Huey for 10!

++ Hong Kong Cafe ++

Can't seem to adjust the pic...although i changed it already, it only appears like this on the blog..hai. Nevermind about the alignment, look at that HUGH pot of beancurd!

We went to the Hong Kong Cafe at Marina Square on the 14th August while waiting for Ellenmae and Aunty Tay as they were watching 'The King and I' at the Esplanade (I believe they have one at Cineleisure too.) Leen, Sis and I ordered this $6 beancurd. We knew that it was big but not this BIG! Haha... The beancurd was nice but the best part was we actually got to SCOOP our own beancurd onto our bowl! It really gives a fresh kind of interaction with your food and makes you wanna scoop more because the scooping is so addictive!

A drop too much? Whatever happened to the lovely lady?
Leen!!! Look at the CAMERA
Who punched me!!!
Now Leen's gone mad, and that punch left a blue black.

++ Sketches with Friends ++

Had a gathering of friends today (Anilia and Shujun and Leen) at Sketches in Bugis Junction. We ordered 3 designer pastas, a 'Fave' pizza and a platter which names i forgotten. Anilia's friend who happens to work there gave us another pepperoni pizza and Tiramisu for dessert. What a spread!

Its been a while since Leen and I caught up with them. Really glad they are doing well in their respective studies and careers. Well, what can you say about friends? We're always there whenever we can! Cheers!

Rollerblading session

Grrrrr...

Look at my new trick!

Driving my new car!

In another dimension...

Had great fun yesterday with Aileen, Eileen and Ellenmae as we went rollerblading at Bishan Park. Luckily, the weather was kind to us and it did not rain like previous days.

Aileen spent her two hours 'driving' around in her new set of wheels..haha (I think you're feeling sore right now. Its been a long time since you exercised...)

Ellenmae was really a fast learner. From standing on blades to blading on the tracks in just over an hour. Not bad at all!

We're going blading next week again!!! Luckily i haven't lost my touch....

I'm going to Four Seasons Hotel for interview next Tuesday! Wish me luck!
